I am sure that by now most of you are aware of the recent passing or our dear friend and fellow member Edwin “Cy” Williams. Mr. Williams had expertise in many various arenas however he never kept it a secret that Boxing was right up there with baseball in his love of the sport and he was most encouraging and happy to be a member of Ring 44. He very regularly wrote notes of encouragement to me and commended the group on how well we represented our sport. Our hearts are saddened and our prayers are offered for his family.

Ladies and gentlemen it is that time of year again where it is necessary to renew your membership. It officially expires at the end of this month. I urge all those who need to renew to do so no later than the end of this month. As of now there are only about three members who are already signed. I will try to send a blank membership app to all who should sign up. If you don’t receive a blank and have any doubts please contact me. I don’t have the membership cards printed up yet so do not think that you are overlooked if you don’t get your new card right away.

Don’t forget Don Patterson’s Nickel City Challenge This coming weekend. We plan on having tickets available at the meeting. I hope to see you there. I have been selected to be your Ring Announcer and am looking forward to seeing you there.

Also get ready in August. I am hearing that Roy Brasch is planning another one of his amateur boxing barn burners. More will soon be revealed.

The International Hall of Fame was carried through this past weekend and of course it was an honor to have Buffalo’s own Jimmy Slattery inducted. Jim is on of the six world Champions who represented Buffalo.

Team Mesi is keeping busy. Joe has a six rounder scheduled for June 23^rd in Montreal Canada. He is matched up with Brazilian Heavyweight Daniel Frank. In addition they are considering a possible July date for an eight rounder in Kinder La.

Nick Casal recently battled to a draw with Dean White, in Las Vegas last Saturday night. Nick’s next bout is scheduled for June 17^th in Memphis Tenn.

New Hall of Fame inductee Danny Diliberto is in town for a stay and he is working out greeting the public at the Classic Cue Billiards and Café. It is located at 6061 Transit Rd Depew (between Walden and Genesee), (716) 684-4644. He plans to be there on a daily basis. Part of his purpose is a book signing session. Let’s get down there and welcome our guy back home. I have been in touch with him and he is a class act. I have been very active and out of town for quite an extended period of time and it is great to be back. I recently celebrated the “second anniversary of my thirtieth birthday” and my two wonderful daughters spearheaded a surprise birthday party for me in New York City. Many of my dearest and most cherished Family members flew in from California, Pennsylvania and totally surprised me. One week later I was of to a two week vacation in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. I just got back May 28^th... Forgive me for staying on this personal note but in addition to all this, my family is also making the weekend of our dinner a family reunion. Ladies and gentlemen this is all so special.

Join us at the meeting; we plan to show some vintage boxing footage of Mr. Dick Topinko himself. Also anyone with pictures of the Inductees or articles please bring them in or alert us that you have them. We would love to copy them for our records.
